About
About the Series
The Transpose series exists because the gap between software engineering and data science is narrower than most people think — but the remaining distance is full of subtle traps.
Software engineers who move into data science don’t need to learn what a function is. They need to learn why the same input can produce different outputs, and why that’s not a bug. Data scientists who move into engineering don’t need to learn what a variable is. They need to learn why a working notebook isn’t the same as a working system.
These books bridge that gap by starting from the reader’s existing expertise and building outwards. No redundant foundations, no missing context.
Colophon
The Transpose books are built with Quarto and hosted on Cloudflare Pages. All source code is available on GitHub. The text is set in Inter for body copy, Literata for headings, and JetBrains Mono for code.
All visualisations use the Okabe-Ito colour palette, designed to be distinguishable by readers with colour vision deficiencies.
